FAQs

Where are you located?

We are uniquely situated on San Diego National Wildlife Refuge in Chula Vista. You can see our building from the parking lot! After you park in the lot, our shuttle (which runs on a loop) will pick you up. The shuttle does its first pick-up at 10:00 AM and the last pick-up at 4:30 PM. The last shuttle from the center to the parking lot is at 5:00 PM

Why is there a shuttle?

Because we’re on a National Wildlife Refuge, traffic is limited onto the site. You’ll notice lots of squirrels, birds, rabbits, and even endangered species who would be threatened by an increase in vehicular traffic. The shuttle is free, accessible, and can even hold your stroller.

Can I walk/bike in?

Nope. There is no dedicated trail to walk or bike into the Refuge and walking on the road poses a major hazard to everyone involved. The only way to obtain access to the Living Coast or Refuge trails is via the Living Coast shuttle.
